O
Original Music
This was originally part of the score for a theater piece called
Play a la Turka which I then expanded
into this long form symphonic poem. It was written to depict the
global reach of music and media, and as a personal exploration into
combining examples of eastern music and sounds with western rhythms and instruments.
The oud, koto, shakuhachi, Ottoman vocals, tablas, guitars, organ, strings and rock drums mix freely together with field recordings from Japan, Turkey and Seoul, South Korea.
Hear the complete recorded version of Symphony East West in
the Immediacy Journal.
